Josefina's Birthday Braids

by Julie Albright

Ever wonder how to braid your hair like AG's Josefina does when she wears her birthday outfit? Here's a how-to!

For this style you'll need bobby pins or mini hair clips, two hair elastics, two ribbons (optional), a brush, and water. I didn't have the ribbons when I took pictures for this tutorial but I'll tell you how to braid them in.

Step One: Braid pigtail braids (one braid one each side). If you want to braid in a ribbon, start out by separating the hair into three sections like you would when you start braiding. Tie the top of the ribbon around one of the sections and braid as normal, using the ribbon as part of the section it is tied to. (You can also tie the ribbon to the whole half of the hair, split the hair into two sections, and use the ribbon as the third.) Repeat for the other side. I did a bit of French braiding because I thought it would help give a nice shape to the hairstyle; however, it's not necessary.

Step Two: Cross the braids over each other.

Step Three: Fold the end of one braid under the other braid. Essentially you are folding the top braid in half with the folded section going under the bottom braid.

Step Four: Fold the other braid under itself.

Step Five: Pin or clip away to your heart's content! I pinned the bottom of the hairstyle (the folded ends) to my head, and the top of the two braids to each other. With Josefina's dark hair, it shouldn't be a problem if you use dark bobby pins; for someone with lighter hair, I would just do more pinning from the bottom.

Here's the style from the front:

I hope you have fun trying this hairstyle!
